Summer Bucket List

Summer has officially started for me! Even though I have technically been out of school since May, my family is now on summer break as well. Each year I make a list of things that I would potentially like to do or accomplish this summer. The list consists of little things, like finishing up a book series, to larger things like going on a trip. Summer is my favorite season because it seems like the possibilities are endless! I already have some summer plans but here are some of my "bucket list" items that I hope to accomplish!

1.) Go to Chicago: I live in Michigan so Chicago is about a 2 1/2- 3 hour train ride. I love exploring the city because there always seems to be something new to discover, plus the food is delicious. I want to either take a day trip with some friends or even go for a few days with my family!

2.) Spend an entire day at the beach: Last summer I participated in beach week which is an entire week where the seniors camp out at the beach. My friends and I had such a good time going out to the beach every morning and staying until sunset. I love going to the beach and even though camping out for a week might not be possible, spending a day there with some friends sounds great.

3.) Go stand up paddle boarding: I did this last summer and it was so fun! I've been dying to get back out on the water.

4.) Finish Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas: This is a hefty book and I'm not afraid to admit that even picking it up to start reading is intimidating. I started reading the Throne of Glass series back in high school and devoured the first two books. I want to start Heir of Fire but like I said, it's intimidating (562 pages). I've decided that this summer is when I make an effort to read this book.

5.) Complete the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan: Oh look, another book challenge! What a surprise! For those who don't know me, you should know that I love the Percy Jackson series. It is my favorite series ever and yet I haven't started the Heroes of Olympus series. I've started reading The Lost Hero a few times but I've always gotten distracted by other books. Now that all of the books are out and Rick has a new book coming out in October, it is high time that I read this series.

6.) Watch the sunrise/sunset: This will be a little challenging for me. Watching a sunset will be no problem but sunrise is another story. I am not a morning person. I consider waking up at 9:30 early. I've never seen a sunrise before but I've heard that they're beautiful and I want to see for myself, even if it means dragging myself out of bed.

I hope everyone has a great summer!
