The Assassin's Blade Book Review

Companion to the Throne of Glass Series
4 out of 5 Stars

I am a huge fan of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and was excited when I saw this novel at the library. I immediately picked it up and was anxious to dive back into the world. The Assassin's Blade is a bind up of five novellas that all lead to the events that occur at the very beginning of Throne of Glass. Each novella follows the main character, Celaena Sardothien, on a different adventure following the events of the previous one. I would highly recommend this bind up if you have read the Throne of Glass series. It can be read at anytime during the series. I read it after I had already completed the first and second books. Sarah J. Maas did not disappoint. The novellas are filled with action, romance, and betrayal. This is a great edition to the Throne of Glass world.

**WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK OR ANY OF THE OTHER THRONE OF GLASS NOVELS FOR THIS NEXT PART CONTAINS SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED**

So what did everyone think of this book? Which novella was your favorite? Mine was The Assassin and the Desert. It was filled with action and betrayal. I loved how Celaena was able to figure out that Ansel had been the spy with the Silent Assassins. My favorite part was where she and Ansel fought after Ansel had poisoned the Mute Master.

I loved that we were introduced to Sam, Celaena's first love. I found him to be an enjoyable and entertaining character and was absolutely heart broken when he was murdered. It was horrific. I felt so bad for Celaena.

Another point...who expected Arobynn's betrayal at the end when Celaena was captured and brought to the salt mines? I did not expect that. I knew that Arobynn was twisted but I didn't expect him to betray Celaena in that way. I thought he had gotten his revenge when he made her kill Doneval. I was shocked.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and diving back into the Throne of Glass world. It included everything that I expected from a Sarah J. Maas book and it makes me want to continue this series even more. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
